Inside ZCode: Silently uploading your Git history to the cloud

ZCode, a code editor developed by Ferstar, has been found to silently upload users' Git history to the cloud without their explicit consent. The issue was discovered by a developer who noticed that the editor's 'Workspace Snapshot' feature was sending his Git history to the company's servers. The developer found that the feature was enabled by default and was uploading data even when not in use. The upload includes information such as the user's code, commit history, and other metadata. The developer reported this issue to Ferstar, and the company has since acknowledged the problem and promised to fix it. The incident raises concerns about user data privacy and the lack of transparency in software development.
