A security researcher discovered a dating app scam that uses AI to create fake profiles and convince victims to send money. The scammer, posing as a woman named Jennifer, uses a pop-up message to initiate a phone call, asking the victim to send money for a plane ticket or other expenses. The app, called Dora, is likely a rebranded version of a known scamming app. The researcher, Matthew 'Zigula' Gore-Kormanik, was able to interact with the AI-powered scammer and declined to send money.
