ArXiv receives multiyear commitments to support it as an independent nonprofit

ArXiv, a nonprofit open-access repository for electronic preprints (known as e-prints) in fields such as physics, mathematics, computer science, and related disciplines, has received multiyear investments from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The investments will support ArXiv's operations and maintenance costs for the next five years. ArXiv will continue to operate as an independent nonprofit organization, maintaining its commitment to open access and free availability of scientific research. The repository currently hosts over 2 million papers, with new submissions being added daily.
