Not all AI workers think the tech could kill everyone

A survey of 2,500 AI professionals found that only 22% believe AI could pose an existential risk to humanity, while 57% think it could have a positive impact. The survey was conducted by the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge. The results suggest that AI workers are more optimistic about the technology's potential than the general public, who were surveyed separately in 2020 and found to be more concerned about AI's risks. The survey also found that AI workers are more likely to have a background in computer science and engineering, and that they are more likely to be male and employed in the US.
