RSA-896
RSA-896 is a 896-bit RSA key that was factored in 2019 by a team led by Samuel Neves, using a custom-built machine. The key was generated in 1990 and was considered to be one of the most secure keys in the world at the time. The team used a combination of computer hardware and mathematical techniques to factor the key in just 2 hours and 47 minutes. The attack was made possible by the use of a custom-built machine that was specifically designed for the task. The machine consisted of 25 nodes, each with 8 Intel Xeon Phi 7250 processors, and was powered by a 4.8 kW power supply. The team used a combination of the Number Field Sieve (NFS) algorithm and the General Number Field Sieve (GNFS) algorithm to factor the key.
