NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation open-Source Geospatial AI Model

The NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation has released an open-source geospatial AI model that combines expertise from both organizations. The model is designed to analyze and provide insights on the lunar surface, with the goal of supporting future human missions to the moon. The model is based on data from NASA's Apollo missions and utilizes IBM's AI technology to generate high-resolution maps of the lunar surface. The model can identify features such as craters, mountains, and even detect signs of water ice. The open-source model is available on GitHub, allowing researchers and developers to contribute to and improve the model. The model will be used to support the development of future lunar missions, including NASA's Artemis program, which aims to send the first woman and the next man to the moon by 2024.
